RMHC Brisbane Disco Fever Ball 2011
RMHC Brisbane Disco Fever Ball 2011

Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) hold gala dinner events nationally as major fundraising initiatives for its various programs aimed at supporting seriously ill children and their families.  Shake Creations proudly supports RMHC SE Queensland by providing production services for the RMHC SE Queensland Gala Charity Ball (Brisbane) to raise vital funds necessary to ensure the two Ronald McDonald Houses in Brisbane (Mater and Herston) continue to provide a home away from home for the families of seriously ill children, along with other critical programs supporting these children and their families.

The 2011 RMHC SE Queensland Gala Charity Ball took guests on a journey back in time to the era of platform shoes, ‘fros and funk – the Disco era.  Every part of the “Disco Fever” journey – from the event’s branding and marketing, to the stunningly transformed Plaza Ballroom at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre – oozed the bling and psychedelia of the late 70s and early 80s.  The night opened with a DJ spinning the discs in the pre-function space, followed by a spectacular, fully choreographed and stunt-filled opening performance by a roller skating dance troupe on the 50- (yes FIFTY!) metre long dance floor.  The night also featured a brilliant floorshow by one of the icons of the Disco era – the one and only Leo Sayer performing all his hits and instantly filling the dance floor.  Most importantly, fundraising records for this event were again broken this year, with the $300,000 milestone being broken for the first time.

Shake Creations looks forward to working with RMHC SE Queensland again in 2012, with the 2012 RMHC SE Queensland Gala Charity Ball promising to be even bigger and more impressive.
