The sixth biennial Regional Arts Australia national conference was presented by Regional Arts Australia and the NT Government through Arts NT, in collaboration with the host town of Alice Springs. With over 950 delegates, art at the heart was one of the largest of its kind the town had ever seen, and Shake Creations managed production across 12 of the event's 16 venues. art at the heart featured many creative aspects, including some amazing entertainment and a plenary room filled with amazing lighting and a 15m-wide screen on which Dave Nixon's spectacular film creations were displayed.
Each of the breakout sessions were filled to capacity and featured informing presentations and discussions on many different aspects of the arts industry, whilst entertainment was the order of the day (and night) during the lunch breaks and at the Ba-Dum Heart Club at night.
The conference dinner was held under the stars at the Telegraph Station and featured Fiona O'Loughlin as host and the Tjupi Band as entertainment. Shake Creations also provided a first for Alice Springs, with a keynote presentation from Peter Jenkinson via satellite from London. art at the heart definitely showcased the arts industry to the world and left no doubt about the level of creativity regional artists in Australia have to offer. |

| As the next host of the Regional Arts Australia Conference, Tasmanian Regional Arts were charged with the responsibility of staging a handover at the Alice Springs event. A video showcasing the next event’s destination was initially produced by Wide Angle Tasmania, however furher work was undertaken by Shake Creations to fit this video to the ultra-wide screen (15-metres wide) using textures synonymous with the destination. Subtle movement of the original production was also introduced, leaving the audience with a sense of movement that isn’t possible on a smaller, standard screen. |
